Racin' Day

On April 17th, Christian ran in the Salt Lake marathon. Even though it was his first, he did an excellent job! His time was 3 hours and 36 minutes. Out of more than a thousand people, he took 112th place. We are so proud of him!
Racin' day really started the night before. Adam had fun stretching with Daddy. Charlie, on the other hand, couldn't stay awake.

Our faux neice, Rylee, slept over, so that I could go to the starting line with Christian. We left the house bright and early, at 5:30 am, and made our way up to the University of Utah. While we were up there, we ran into Jessie. She's a friend/client of ours, who was running in the 1/2 marathon.

The race started at the U of U Olympic Bridge, and ended at the Gateway mall. We waited for Christian right on 100 South, as he entered the Gateway (less than 1/2 mile from the finish line). We watched anxiously, hoping to see him running in!
We had quite the group of cheer leaders! Of course, Rylee came with us. Our friends, Michelle, Lucy, and Violet Nuttall met us there. And, Marni came with Emma, Quinci, and Ellie Girl. We didn't see Justin and Estelle until the very end, but they ended up being right across the street as Christian ran by.

After Christian ran by us, we rushed through the crowd and past the finish line, to find him. Justin and Estelle found him first. He was quite exhausted, and relieved to be done.

We were so proud of his accomplishment! It was kind of an emotional thing, to see him do so well.

Because of the crowds, poor little Adam had to stay in the stroller. He was a bit annoyed.

We sat on these steps for about a half an hour, to let Christian rest. The problem came when he wanted to stand up. His legs disagreed.

Charlie had fun playing with all of his fabulous little lady friends. Violet and Estelle are quite the cute little girls. And, Ellie Girl is his cousin, but she's one of his very best friends. What a lucky boy!

Christian was finally able to move from the steps, and we made it home. I would say that it really took him about a week to feel kind of well. He trained hard, and he did his best! Watch out Boston. This guy appreciates a challenge!

What an accomplishment! I have so much respect for people who run marathons. :)

It was fun seeing your great Easter vacation. Life has been kind of crazy and unpredictable with Melanie, but we still need to get together some time!
