Adam and Charlie Quotes....

Adam, plain as day, "Mom" and, "Dadada"

Charlie, riding in the car, "Mom, are you a woman?"
I respond, "yes."
Charlie gives a disappointed sigh.
I say, "Don't you want me to be a woman?"
Charlie says, "No, I want you to be my Mom."

Charlie over time (originally in the sidebar of the blog):
  • This morning: "Daddy, do I feel better? I'm sorry for throwing up."
  • He was in the tub with Adam. He kind of got stuck between Adam's bath seat and the far end of the tub, where his toys are. Clearly frustrated, he said, "AAAh, get me back North!"
  • I heard him come clambering into the dining room from the hall. He hollered out, "Mommy, I tripled!" (He had tripped.)
  • Referring to his bath water: "This is not perfect."
  • Last night when Charlie took his bath, I stepped out of the room. You know our house is so small that we can hear every noise he makes. Adam was in his exersaucer right next to the tub. He loves to be in the bathroom while Charlie's playing in the tub. Anyway, I think both Christian and I were ignoring his crazy tub behavior, becauase neither of us wanted to sit in there and play 'dinasours' with him. When I came around the corner to check on him, it had not been long, I could see that the entire bathroom was covered in water. Next, I saw that Adam was soaked!!!! Of course, I yelled at Christian, because that's what you do, right? Then, I yelled at Charlie. Then, I started cleaning it up. Charlie knew he was in trouble. He sat there quietly remorseful. Adam wasn't making a sound, either. As I'm mopping it up with a towel, I looked up at Charlie and tried not to smile. He looked right at me and said, "Mommy, it's not your fault."
  • Charlie likes to pretend that he goes to school. Sometmes, he pretends that I've been at school, too. Yesterday I was in the kitchen making dinner. When he came into the kitchen he said, "How's school, Mom?" I said, "School's great!" Then, he said, "What did you learn today?" I said,"Well, I'm making a new recipe, so I learned how to cook a new dinner." He said, "I'm so proud of you, Mommy!"
  • Charlie was on his way to throw away Adams diaper when he said, "Gretchen, you like to play catch with the diaper?"
  • The following is a list of questions that Charlie asked me yesterday while driving in the car: "So, so, my question is this...why does the snow melt?" "So, so, so my question is this...why do berries grow on trees?" "So, so, so my question is this...how do our bodies grow?" "So, my question is this...how do cars go?" And last night at home he asked, "So, my question is this, how do our bodies grow?" Unbelievable!
  • Charlie, to his Uncle Brian and his family, as they were leaving our house: They are on the porch, and he cries, "I told you not to go!"
  • Charlie, on the moon: "The moon comes up, then it goes down. The moon is big, then it gets small."

Charlie Quote

"I like the sunshine. It tickles my eyes." (Said with a smile.)

Last Sunday at our house...

This is obviously not last Sunday. First, we want to say Happy Birthday to Papa Pie Ken! We wish we could be in Washington to celebrate! The top picture was taken on 9/1/07. Papa Pie loves music! So does Charlie! The bottom picture was taken on 6/13/08. Adam (10 days old) was enjoying some sunshine with his Papa!
We finally allowed Charlie to enjoy the art easel that Grandma and Grandpa Ray gave him for his birthday last year. He enjoyed it even more than he would have 9 months ago!
Adam was a very busy boy on Sunday! He was in the refrigerator, trying new snacks, climbing on Daddy, getting his haircut.....

Future rocker? We can only hope :)! Christian has a new hobbie! Watch out world!
Adam's first haircut.

This is Charlie's first construction paper chain. We made it to count the days until our visit from Grandma Vicki, Papa Ken, Uncle Paul, and Cousin Tanny! We are so excited! We told Charlie when they get here he  can go to Chucky Cheeses with his cousin Tanner!
Adam ate a small piece of the construction paper. I was in the kitchen doing dishes. Adam kept bumping my legs with his head, like a little kitty. He does this when he wants me to pick him up. I kept doing what I was doing, and he puked all over my feet! Right on top was a small red triangular shaped piece of construction paper. He eats everything!

This was not on Sunday, this was last Thursday. Charlie's friend Luke came to play. You'll see that he has a little "bed head." Charlie patted him on the head and said, "You need a haircut, Buddy!"

Charlie Quotes

Eating lunch the other day (spagetti, or ussgetti, as he calls it), Charlie was licking his hand. He looked at Christian and said, "My hand is like a popcicle."

Charlie, about his drink: "Does it have a straw?"
Me: "yes."
Charlie: "Do you like straws?"
Me: "yes"
Charlie: "And, I like milk and lemonade. And, I like yellow eggs, and I like you."

Last week, after a stomach bug Charlie was feeling a bit better. He was sitting on my lap and  being pretty snuggly and mellow. Out of the blue he said to me, appauled, "Ugh, Mommy, what's that smell?"
I told him, "Honey, I think it's your bummy."
Charlie perked right up, and with a lot of attitude said, "Well, maybe it's your bummy!"

life is good...

We went with Grandma Sheri to the Dinasaur Park in Ogden. Charlie wasn't super interested in looking at the Dinasaurs, but both of the boys loved the swings!

At one point, we were inside looking at the dinasaur skeleton replicas. There were dinasaur noises playing in the background. We had already talked about the fact that dinasaurs no longer exist. Charlie's little mind took over, and he was freaked out! He looked up at us and said, "I gotta get outa here!"

We went to Josh and Kelly's to celebrate Payton's birthday. His birthday was actually on the 12th, but we hadn't ever missed a celebration, so better late than never!

One of Charlie's favorite things to do is to "game" with his cousins. He doesn't always get how to play, but he loves it! It makes him seem like a big boy!

Remembering Better Days.....

A couple of days ago we were busy having fun!
Now.....we don't feel good!
Adam actually fell asleep on the bathroom floor while I was cleaning Charlie up. (He puked, while lying on his back. It went all over his face and in his eyes! Yuck!)
Here's to hoping that tomorrow will be better! I am, however, extremely grateful to have a washing machine and dryer, and nice hot water to get these boys, and their clothes/blankets/beds clean!
